The holidays are arguably the best time of the year. Sadly, the holidays are not the best time for our Earth.

Read these facts:

Each holiday season, Americans produce 25% more waste than we do in the rest of the year. The extra waste amounts to 25 millions tons of garbage. If every US family reused just two feet of holiday ribbon, the 38,000 miles of ribbon saved could tie a bow around the Earth. With our small efforts, we can bring a big change, and make this situation a little better.

Christmas is a festival of cheerfulness, love, blessings, and wishes. But, we don’t need material to spread happiness. Most of us, unknowingly, damage the environment every holiday season.

Snow, Santa, Food, Family, and friends are enough to celebrate Christmas. Let’s give some relief to our Earth and make the last festival of the year with eco-friendliness.

Here what you can do to become a part of eco-friendly Christmas.

Gift Ideas:

You love your family and friends and want them to know how much you appreciate to being in your life without disturbing the nature feeling then purchase the gifts made from the recycled material.

If you have something in your house that can be presented as a gift then wrap them in a beautiful cloth.

Use your creative skills and made hand-made items for gifts like, gingerbread fudge, pine scented candles, ice cream, basket bag pack, and a few more.

You can also purchase shopping coupons for your friends and family and mailed them. That’s a great earth saving gift idea.

Experience for products

Dematerialized gifts are ecological choice, respectful of the environment. You are rather gifting toys, chocolates, sweater, and scarfs. You can go to an amusement park with your kids and friends, and what experience they would represent as a gift. No matter where you go, near or far from your home, It is still better than a scarf.

Whatever an occasion choosing a experience over gifts gives you memories, and emotions for the life time.

Grow Christmas Tree

There is no Christmas without a Christmas tree. Instead of buying an old artificial tree or cut a tree, why not grow a tree on a pot and give it a valuable space in your life. Growing Christmas tree is a fun activity that will tug both sentimental and heartstrings. And the best thing is that you can decorate this tree every year.

Steps to Plant Christmas Tree at Home

A growing Christmas tree in the pot or container is easy. A Christmas tree can be kept for several years if cared carefully.

  • Select the right container for growing a Christmas tree.
  • Choose your Christmas tree- Firs, Pines, Spruces, and Cypresses and Cedars.
  • Use quality soil and manure.
  • High potassium fertilizer.
  • Water

Go Digital

Don’t purchase cards to wish your family and friends on Christmas. Send an e-card via social media or do a video call to catch up with the people you are really close to.

Light Up Your Room With Eco-Friendly Candles

If you want to glam up your home this Christmas without disturbing the environment, then switch to eco-friendly candles. The flicker of candles make an ambience lovely and creates softness in your room. I advise you to purchase beeswax candles they have a remarkably long shelf life and release very less shoot when burning.

Cook Only What You Eat

Traditional Christmas dinner featured, mash potatoes, turkey with stuffing, turnip, cranberry sauce, and a few more. In dessert, there are pumpkin or apple pie, raisin pudding, and fruitcake.

In the UK we waste 5 million puddings, 2 million turkeys, and 74 million mince pies each year. So, if you are hosting a Christmas party plan in advance, fill your shopping bag with the vegetables that you need, and cook only what you eat. Most importantly, tell your guest in advance if they need to bring anything.

Let’s hear from you now! How will you make your Christmas eco-friendly? Please share your ideas and claps for my ideas!!
